| The
fun-filled bygone era of Atlantic City and its world famous
boardwalk and entertainment piers has been recreated at Gilda's
Club South Jersey through the Larry Alper Boardwalk Mural.
Gilda's Club South Jersey's warm and welcoming clubhouse
provides a meaningful setting for this loving memorial tribute
to a man who was an integral part of the greater Atlantic
City community throughout his lifetime. Larry Alper's Atlantic
City-based businesses, from Alper Commercial Real Estate to
Million Dollar and Steel Piers, all had a unique impact on
the history of our region.
Larry passed away of colon cancer on August 24, 2001. His
wife, Ronnie, their daughters, Lisa and Stacey, and their
sons-in-law, Mike Russo and Steve Marchel, asked those who
were so inclined to make donations in Larry's name to Gilda's
Club South Jersey a full year in advance of its opening day
on January 7, 2003.
Designed by artist Charlotte Carney and constructed by Wm.
Schoppy, Inc., the mural offers a special and unique way to
honor or memorialize a family member or friend, or to celebrate
any of life's precious moments. Individual boardwalk planks,
Ferris wheel gondolas, pier marquees or sailboats can be engraved
with a name or phrase of your choosing.
